Reading discussions

Anyone with a web browser could read the discussions. You would move to a conversation of interest by following the links from the list of topics and subtopics, and you could navigate back using the navigation bar at the top of each page.

Contributing to discussions

To add to an existing conversation, you filled in the message box at the foot of the page. Formatting codes, and a small set of basic tags, could be used to improve the appearance of a post. Depending on the moderators' settings, a conversation might allow open posting or might require a user account with a name and password.

Where a conversation allowed it, you could create a new discussion by giving it a subject and writing the first message.

Searching the board

The board could be searched in two ways. A new messages search showed everything posted since you last looked, using your account if you had one. A keyword search matched text in the subject line and body of posts.

Getting an account

An account let you keep a profile, receive replies and search for new messages since your last visit. Accounts were created by the moderators on request.

Rules and courtesy

The board asked readers to keep discussion charitable and on topic, to avoid personal attacks, and to respect the convictions of others. Moderators could remove posts that broke those expectations.
